The collecting of vintage children's and young adult books is a hobby that is very much in its infancy. Although there are a number of collectors across America and around the world, there is at this time no organized, comprehensive collection of data on the subject for newer collectors to draw upon as they seek out items.
What this means for the beginning or newer collector is that there is a chance to get in on the ground floor of a relatively new market, before prices on the rarest and most sought-after items can go through the roof due to enthusiasts competing against one another.
It also means that it should be easy and cheap enough for most adults to purchase the treasured books they loved as children, even if they do not go on to collect more than just a handful of books they had previously owned.
Not only is it unexplored, but the range of children's books is vast, because it encompasses not only the traditional picture books for smaller kids, but also young adult novels, coloring and activity books, the classics of children's literature, girls' and boys' series books (the Hardy Boys, Donna Parker, et al), and a myriad of collectable formats, from the Whitman hardbacks to Little Golden Books.
This website will help collectors know what is out there and available to be collected. As time goes on, we plan to put hundreds of images and descriptions on this site - so, if your favorite section is not yet filled in, come back and visit us soon.
